Re-enable the visual editor tab


In rare cases, a user's post editor will stop displaying the visual WYSIWYG editor tab and display the post in plain text only. Turning the visual editor feature off and then on again usually fixes the issue.

Before you start

You'll need a user account with Editor permissions.


  1. Ensure the affected user is not currently editing a post.
  2. Log into your blog admin area:
  3. Go to Users > All Users.
  4. Click the username to edit their profile.
  5. Under Personal Options, check the box to "Disable the visual editor when writing":
  6. Scroll to the bottom and click "Update User".
  7. After the page reloads, uncheck the box next to "Disable the visual editor when writing".
  8. Scroll to the bottom and click "Update User".
  9. Have the user log out and log back in to verify that the visual editor is now visible.
