As part of your subscription, LexBlog activates a Twitter Summary Card with Large Image. When you share a post from your site, Twitter scans the content for an image to display in the tweet. Sometimes the Twitter card will not display an image, or it displays the incorrect image. This article lists steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
Note
For selecting images that work well with different social media platforms, see this article.
While we can suggest how to optimize your content for social media sharing, ultimately LexBlog has little control over issues with Twitter's software. If these steps do not work, we suggest contacting Twitter support.
Before you start
- You'll need a Twitter account.
- Upload an image to your post that meets Twitter's Card guidelines. Cards support images:
- Cropped at a 2:1 aspect ratio
- Sized between 300 x 157 pixels and 4096 x 4096 pixels
- With file sizes under 5MB
- In JPG, PNG, WEBP or GIF file formats
Steps
- Run the link through Twitter's Card Validator. Correct any errors the validator returns, and share your link again.
- If the wrong image still displays, force Twitter to scan the post again. You can either:
- Append ?1 to the original URL, then share the new URL on Twitter. For example:
Original URL: https://www.yourblog.com/new-post
New URL: https://www.yourblog.com/new-post?1 - Use a service like bit.ly to shorten the URL, then share the shortened URL on Twitter.
- Append ?1 to the original URL, then share the new URL on Twitter. For example:
- If these steps do not work, we recommend contacting Twitter support.
