Set a canonical URL

Search engines penalize sites that duplicate content from other sites. Adding a canonical link element lets you publish a post on multiple sites and avoid a duplicate content penalty. This article explains how to add a canonical URL to a post.

 

Available On: Stoddard, Bradwell and Blackstone sites.

 

Before you start

 

Steps

  1. In your browser, copy the URL to the original post.
  2. On the site that will host the copied content, edit the duplicate post.
  3. Click on the Yoast SEO icon in the upper right-hand corner of the editor, then the Advanced dropdown within Yoast SEO:

  4. In Canonical URL, paste the URL to the original post.
  5. Update or publish the post.
