The LexBlog Network Analytics Tool helps you monitor post, blog, and network-wide performance with flexible filtering, trend analysis, and export options. This tool tracks views, trends, and author performance. Analytics help measure engagement and optimize content strategy.
Available On: Enterprise
Before you start
- You'll need a user account with a Network Administrator role.
Table of Contents
Accessing the Analytics Tool
-
Log in to Your Network Admin Dashboard
- Make sure you’re logging in at the Network level
-
Navigate to the Tool
- From the left-hand side navigation menu, click Tools.
- Under Tools, select LexBlog Network Analytics.
Once selected, the LexBlog Network Analytics dashboard will load. The interface is divided into three main sections:
-
- Post Stats: Displays key metrics for individual blog posts, including views, publication date, practice area, and performance trends.
- Blog Stats: Provides an aggregated performance view of each blog in your network. It may also include additional metrics like the blog’s URL and subscriber count.
- Author Stats The publishing output of each author.
-
Sub-Options Within Each View: Depending on which main view you select (Post Stats or Blog Stats), additional filtering and sorting options become available:
- Stats Over: Lets you view metrics based on the timeframe you select (e.g., the past 24 hours, week, month, or year).
- Published Date: You can filter or sort content by when it was published, rather than when the activity occurred.
- Custom Query: Provides an advanced filtering interface where you can further narrow down results by criteria such as Firm, Blog, Practice Area, or Author.
Note
This layout helps you drill down from a high-level overview (Posts vs. Blogs) into more specific details with the sub-options, ensuring you can tailor the view to your exact needs.
Note
If you do not see LexBlog Network Analytics under Tools, ensure you have the Network Administrator role. If you still don’t have access, contact your internal admin or reach out to LexBlog support.
Understanding the Dashboard
The dashboard is divided into sections showing post performance, blog performance, and (soon) author performance:
Post Stats
A table listing individual blog posts along with key metrics:
- Post Title
- Blog (which the post belongs to)
- Published Date
- Practice Area (category)
- Views (within the selected timeframe)
-
Trend Percentage (change in views compared to a previous period)
- Green: Increase in views
- Red: Decrease in views
Blog Stats
Displays summary metrics for each blog:
- Blog Name
- Published On (Launch Date)
- Practice Area
- Total Views (in selected timeframe)
- Trend Percentage (growth or decline in traffic)
- Additional metrics (e.g., blog URL, subscriber count)
Author Stats
Provides insights into individual author performance:
- Author Name
- Primary Blog
- Most Recently Published On (Date)
- All-Time Post Count (how many posts authored in total)
- Post Count (per year)
Together, these sections provide a snapshot of your content’s performance – both at the individual post level and the blog/site level – helping you gauge what content is most popular and which blogs are attracting the most readers.
Filtering and Customizing Data
Use the Filters panel to narrow down analytics by date range, content attributes, or specific blogs/authors.
Note
See section at the top of the dashboard to reveal or remove current filters.
Here are ways you can filter and customize your view:
Date Range
- Predefined Ranges: Past 24 hours, past week, past month, past year.
- Custom Range: Select specific start and end dates.
Blog Selection
- View network-wide stats (default) or filter by a specific blog.
- To reset, select "All Blogs" or remove individual blog filters.
Practice Area (category)
- Focus on posts within a specific legal practice area.
Author
- View posts written by a specific author across all blogs or within a selected blog.
Firm (If applicable)
- For enterprise networks that include multiple firms or organizational units, you may have a Firm filter.
- This filter lets you narrow data to a particular firm’s content if your network spans more than one firm or entity.
Note
If your enterprise network is just for your firm, you may not need this filter, as all data is by default for your organization.
To apply changes, click Run Query.
Note
You can combine filters to slice the data as needed. For example, you might look at a single Practice Area within one Blog over a Custom Date Range – the tool will refine the results to match all those criteria. Whenever you change any filter, remember to apply the changes by running a new query
Running Queries & Refreshing Data
Running Queries
After setting filters, click Run Query to update results. This ensures the displayed data reflects the selected parameters.
Refreshing Data
Analytics data may be cached. If the data is more than 24 hours old, you’ll see a yellow banner notifying you that a data refresh is in progress, and the page will be temporarily locked. Once complete, a green banner will confirm that the data is current, and you can reload the page to view updated results.
You can also manually click Refresh Data to pull the latest metrics. A timestamp will show the last refresh time (e.g., "Last manual refresh: 1 hour ago").
Exporting Data
For offline analysis or reporting:
- Apply desired filters and Run Query.
- Scroll to the bottom of the results.
- Click Export as CSV to download the dataset.
- Open the file in Excel or another spreadsheet tool.
The CSV export reflects applied filters, making it easy to create reports for meetings or analysis.
Note
If your data set is large (e.g., hundreds of posts or multiple blogs), the CSV export is a quick way to get the full list. The on-screen dashboard might only show the top items or one page at a time, but the CSV will contain the complete data set for your query.
Best Practices for Insights
