The Footnotes tool in the paragraph block is designed to simplify the process of adding and formatting footnotes within blog posts.
Note
LexBlog recommends using hyperlinks in place of footnotes. Readers respond best to approachable, authentic content. On the web, hyperlinks are the industry standard for referencing outside sources.
Before you start
- Learn to use and navigate in the Block Editor
- Familiarize yourself with the basics of Adding, Editing and Formatting blog posts
Steps
1. First, decide where you want your footnote number to appear. Place your cursor or highlight the text just before that spot.
2. Next, look for the toolbar. This should be either above or below your text. Click the arrow icon to show the More menu dropdown.
3. Click the footnote option in the dropdown. This will automatically create a reference number at the end of your blog post.
Note: If you decide to add more footnotes, each new footnote and reference number will automatically be listed in numerical order.
4. Once you've created a footnote (steps 1-3) a Footnotes block will be inserted at the bottom of your post. You can use this block to modify the reference text.
5. To modify, click on a line within the footnotes block.
6. Type the footnote text for the reference number(s).
